We don't make up the verdict — we read it off the world's most rigorous ingredient databases and show you exactly which one flagged what. Every scan cross-references IARC (WHO cancer research), EU CosIng (EU banned list), California Prop 65 (OEHHA), the FDA, EWG, and EPA CompTox. When an ingredient gets flagged, we cite the specific database and the specific classification (e.g. "IARC Group 2B — possibly carcinogenic to humans"). What if I scan a product that's not in your database?

Our database has 59.8M+ products across food, beauty, household, supplements, and pet care. In real-world testing most consumer products scan instantly. When a barcode is new or regional, DitchToxic falls back to OCR (read the ingredient label off the back of the package with your camera), analyzes the ingredient list the same way as a barcode scan, and caches the result — so every scan you do makes the database better for the next person. If something truly can't be found, you can submit it in one tap and we'll add it.
Is this medical or nutritional advice?

Product scanning works worldwide. The 59.8M+ product database includes international barcodes via OpenFoodFacts and EU product registries, and the ingredient-level safety databases we cross-reference (IARC, EU CosIng, OEHHA) are global or EU-based, not US-only. Water quality by ZIP and FDA/CPSC recall alerts are US-specific. If you're outside the US those two features default to a neutral state, but every other part of the app (barcode scan, OCR, A-F grade, EU-banned flags, IARC flags, and cleaner swaps) works globally.
What does "lifetime" actually mean? What if the company disappears?
